Macdonald Environmental Planning, a medium-sized SW Portland design firm providing Landscape Architecture for projects in Housing including senior communities, affordable/special needs and mixed use market rate w/ roof top courtyards, Heath Care including MOB’s, cancer centers, medical center expansion projects and healing gardens and Education including K -12 and higher education.

We are currently seeking a Landscape Architect/Senior Project Manager candidate who is looking for a growth opportunity into all aspects of managing projects in a Landscape Architectural firm. Responsibilities will include managing projects from schematic design through construction administration, specification preparation and project team correspondence. The applicant should also have experience in preparing proposals, managing project scope and time allocations and managing staff rolls and tasks, experience, strong design skills, excellent communication skills, and last but not least a sense of humor. 

Specific tasks may include: site analysis, design, product specifications and production of detailed construction drawings. The candidate must have a bachelor or master’s degree in an accredited landscape architecture program and a working knowledge of Pacific Northwest plants and Sustainable Design Practices, understanding of local agency codes and requirements; demonstrate that he/she is excellent in communications and organization; and be highly proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite software.

Minimum requirements:  

  • 8 years of project management in a professional Landscape Architectural office
  • Solid AutoCAD 2016 drawing management skills and construction detailing
  • Solid Sketch Up & computer graphics skills
  • Landscape Architect registration
  • LEED accreditation is important
  • BLA or MLA required
  • MS Office Suite

Working knowledge: CS3 Cloud; Power Point, Photoshop, In Design, and Sketch-Up

Macdonald Environmental Planning, P.C. a leading sustainable landscape architectural design firm in west Portland, is seeking talented and motivated individual(s) with strong design background and interests in Sustainable Design, Healing Environments (Healthcare) Planning /Design, and Housing and Community Planning to join our team.  This collaborative/innovative atmosphere fosters a fabulous growth opportunity for candidates who are team players who can complement and strengthen the firm, while bringing unique qualities to each endeavor large or small.

MEP has an extensive array of projects, including medical campus master planning, healing environment(s) design, mixed use, senior communities, and park & recreation design.  Sustainable design practices are woven through all these project types.  They include a combination of green/eco roofs, living green walls, rain water harvesting/sculptures, soft storm-water treatment, use of eco-friendly materials, and selection of appropriate plants for local environmental conditions. 

Landscape Designer/ Project Associate

The applicant for this position must have the ability to collaborate on complex projects with multi-disciplinary teams, solid and organized technical production abilities, and strong design, presentation graphic, and communication skills.  In addition, applicants with LEED accreditation and project management skills will be higher priority.

  • 3 to 5 years in professional production Landscape Architecture office
  • Solid AutoCAD 2016 skills and construction detailing
  • Solid Sketch Up
  • Excellent computer graphics
