Clastop Care Health District- Memory and Bariatric Care Living Center

Astoria, Oregon


This memory and bariatric care facility incorporated a special garden memory care garden complete with raised beds, perennial gardens and covered walkways and seating benches for viewing the colorful landscape.  The site was situated in the Coastal community of Astoria, Oregon.  We wanted the planting not only to fit into the seaside character be full of colorful perennials and graceful ornamental grasses.

Vista Court Senior Living Facility

Vancouver, Washington


Vista Court a Senior Housing project for the Vancouver Housing Authority was completed in the winter of 2011.  The entire project encircles a very old London Plane tree while allowing the residents to walk to the surrounding neighborhood and take pause at the many benches placed for viewing the new landscaped grounds.  Van Vista an existing high rise senior apartment tower is directly adjacent to the new Vista Court building.

Yakima Living Center

This Senior Community incorporates retirement apartments, assisted living and skilled nursing all within a 8 acre campus filled with unique garden nodes spaced periodically along the village trail and walks. The looping trail system allows residents to meet friends at a variety of gardens including a rose garden, perennial gardens, raised plant beds and even a quick stop by at the Village Center for refreshments. Macdonald Environmental Planning was responsible for the development of the outdoor garden spaces, the trails, walkways, the Alzheimer’s courtyard and the village center café patio.

Trenton Terrace

Portland, Oregon




Trenton Terrace is a highly-livable home provides 66-units, low-income, independent senior living apartments in a building located on a .9 acre site within North Portland’s New Columbia neighborhood
A thin, transparent bridge connection links the east and west wings, affording natural light and a view to the south terrace and the grand heritage tree which the project was planned. Greening elements include stormwater swales that treat the roof and parking lot runoff onsite.

ON THE BOARDS

Macdonald Environmental Planning will be providing landscape architectural services for the Rose Villa revitalization project. This 24 acre Senior Community will offer a variety of sustainable design element including greenroofs, rooftop gardens, stormwater collection into cisterns and naturalized creeks that will flow down through the site to wetland retention ponds.  All open areas are designed to engage the residents in gardens, outdoor activities and will serve to fully unify and connect the community.  The project is pursuing LEED ND.   Images provided by Myhre Group Architects.

Burton Ridge at Four Seasons

Vancouver, Washington


This senior living project features 172 units for Independent, Assisted Living, and Memory Care.  As the Landscape Architects, we have designed the site landscaping with sustainability in mind.  Native plants were specified within the site landscaping on over four acres.  Bio-swales and detention ponds have also been incorporated into the site design to allow for maximum storm water infiltration.  Other site features include a community plaza for events; an intricate rose garden located next to the main entry driveway; and community garden for residents to produce their own vegetables and flowers.
